Hills Spirit Football Club 2024 Season Grading Information

All Players are to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the grading for registration and warm up
activities. All players must wear shin pads and bring water. Sick, injured or can’t attend? If you cannot
attend any of the grading sessions, you will need to inform the Club beforehand in writing via email to
registrarhillsspiritfc@gmail.com. Players that do not attend grading are likely to be assigned, in the
first instance, to the lowest graded team for that age group. If a player is feeling ill or has any injury
that may affect their grading performance, this information must be communicated prior to the grading
session. It is strongly recommended that players attend ALL nights for your age group

Guidelines for grading
  1.  All players from age group Under 8 onwards must attend grading.
  2. A player can play in the age group they turn in 2023 or up one age group.
  3. A player can only grade in one age group and is to be the age group they have registered for.
  4. Friends/past teammates who wish to play together in a team must email registrarhillsspiritfc@gmail.com prior to grading and indicate who wishes to be graded together as a team and in what age group.
  1. Players are graded individually based on their performance during grading.
  2. When grading as a group or team the nominated division is based on the oldest player and
    the median skill level.
  3. Teams will generally have between 11 and 16 players for full competition teams dependent on  numbers in each age group.
  4. Teams are by no means final at the end of grading – due to sometimes unavoidable player movements after grading, further fine-tuning and changes to teams may occur after grading.
  5. Please note that although the Club recommends specific grades when registering each team with HFA, we do not make the final decision regarding the level or division at which each team ultimately plays – the association has the final say.
  6. Once teams are finalised, they are assigned a Coach and Manager by the committee. Volunteers are encouraged to email  the President or the Registrar with their intention to Coach or Manage and which team they wish to do this for. All Junior Coaches and Managers MUST have a volunteer Working With Children Check (WWCC) so please apply for this via this link if you do not already have it and include your WWCC number when you email the club. Those that have been chosen by the committee will be notified as soon as possible.
Important Notes
  1.  Only registered players can take part in grading.
  2.  It is the player’s and or parent’s responsibility to regularly view the club website
https://hillsspiritfc.com.au/ and the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HillsSpiritFC
where all relevant information will be posted. Grading dates and times can change due to
weather, so please ensure you regularly view the club’s website for all up to date information after you have registered!
  3. If you are not happy with the individual player grading result, appeals on grading must
be put in writing via email within 7 days of grading to the Club President
presidenthillsspiritfc@gmail.com and will be assessed by the Grading Committee. Their
    decision is final.
MiniRoos Program for Players 5 – 7 years

The MiniRoos competition is run internally and involves a mixture of skill drills and small-sided
games. There is no grading for the MiniRoos players or ranking of teams. Each team generally has 6
to 8 players who are arranged in teams based on friends, or previous team-mate requests made. We
will also consider the school they attend and group teams into similar ages. The skills training sessions will
be run on Tuesday nights, with the Hills Football Association coaches supporting the team coaches
for the first 8 weeks. Games are held on Saturdays at the home ground (Arnold Ave Reserve) every
week, commencing at 8:30am. A Meet and Greet day will be held in March 2024 at Arnold Ave
Reserve and you will be advised of the date following registration. The Coordinators for the MiniRoos are Kate Angelini and
Tammy Grillo on the Committee and Tammy they can be contacted directly on minirooshillsspiritfc@gmail.com.
Parents will be required to assist from time to time in canteen and/or BBQ duties as our club is run by volunteers
and requires commitment and help from parents.

Non-Competitive Program for U8 through to U11s

The format for the U8s and U9s is 7 v 7 (including a goalie) on a field approximately 50m x 40m in
size. The U10s & U11s are a 9 v 9 (including a goalie) competition and will be played on approx. ¾
size of a normal playing field. All players will be individually graded into teams to ensure they play with
and against players of a similar ability. These games are usually scheduled from early Saturday
mornings. Mid-week training is arranged based on the availability of coach and parent helpers. The
Coordinator for this age group is Sue Seipolt on the Committee. Parents will be required to assist from
time to time with canteen and BBQ duties as our club is run by volunteers and requires commitment and help from
parents.

Competitive Program for U12 through to U17s

The competitive program will play the conventional 11 v 11 (including the goalie). The U12s will play
on a ¾ field size and from U13s and up they will be on a full field football. Competition points are
recorded, and these age groups will participate in a final series. The Coordinator for this age group is
Steve Wright on the Committee.
